Large, friendly, and trusting, she boards the Narwhal alongside Buck and shares his bewildering first crossing into the snow and cold of the Klondike.
Among Curly's earliest companions are Buck himself, the white sled-dog Spitz, and the half-breed driver François. Open and sociable by nature, she makes friendly advances in a world that does not reward them, a temperament that sets her apart from the wary, wolfish huskies around her.
