Pike is one of the new dogs on the sled team Buck joins in The Call of the Wild, Jack London's novel of the Klondike. He is a clever malingerer and thief, a shirker who avoids work and slyly steals food whenever the drivers Perrault and François are not watching.

Pike pulls in harness alongside Buck, Dave, Sol-leks, Billee, Dub and Dolly, under the lead dog Spitz. Quick to dodge effort and quick to take what is not his, he grows bolder as the long trail wears the team down, ready to challenge authority when he senses an opening.
